Hiker - Mojave Waxy Commander
The Hiker, or Model 66, was added to Viberg's rangeĀ in the early 1970s as mountaineering-inspired version of theĀ Model 105 Logging Boot.Ā It features developments listed from Viberg's industrial products, adapted for outdoor use.
The uppers are constructed from a single piece ofĀ Waxy CommanderĀ suede produced by British tannery Charles F. Stead & Co. ā a name synonymous with the finest leathers since 1900. Using bovine hide, the suede shrinks up to 25% during the unique CFS technique. The hideĀ isĀ tanned without any pigment ā the same way all C.F. Stead leathers are tanned āĀ with natural waxes applied to give the suede a waterproof finish.
Viberg boots are made for a lifetime of wear, so a sole which can be repaired, removed and replaced is paramount to ensure that daily wear doesn't cut that experience short. A French leatherĀ sole is attached to the uppers using a natural split welt which ensures serviceability.Ā The English-made Commando rubber outsole is incredibly durable, providing fantastic traction over undulating surfaces for years to come.
