Cowichan knitting is a tradition, distinctive to the Cowichan people on what is known as Vancouver Island in Canada. Locals and travellers from afar love these pieces for their weighty feel and distinctive patterns. The entire piece is made from wool yarn, from the black to the white contrast "stitching"—each detail is made with Cowichan knit. Only the buttons are made from something that isn't wool, an impressive feat.
